Fundraising Event 2011
Dear Durham Archery Club Members,
We would like to thank each and every one of you for the money you raised for Isaac Palmer. Isaac is our little boy who has Autism. Since the day we found out he has autism, Isaac has been receiving therapy. We started with speech therapy and switched to IBI therapy. The treatment Isaac needs is known as intensive behaviour intervention. It has been determined that Isaac requires 27 to 30 hours of IBI therapy a week to help curb as many of his autistic symptoms as possible before he grows up. IBI therapy is proven to be most effective during the developmental stages of childhood, when children are between two and five years old. Due to a long waiting list, Isaac is not able to access the government-funded therapy he needs until September 2013 at the earliest. At that point, Isaac will be six years old. Chris and I have hired two private therapists and they come into our home 4 nights a week and work with Isaac. This therapy is extremely expensive. We are very grateful for the money you raised for his therapy, and all the hard work that you put into the tournament. Please know that every single penny will be used towards his therapy. With the help of people like each and every one of you, Isaac will grow up to be the best that he can be. Together we are making a big difference in the life of our little boy.
