WELCOME TO 2008
A special thanks to those that completed extra jobs for the club and donated well over the 8 hours needed
for work hours includes: Bill Mullen, Irma and Marco Tillart, Randy Reid, Leo Barrett, Paul and Laura Hayes,
Michael and Ines Krause, Al Lefort, Keith Lubben, Dennis Miller, George Mitchell, Brian Adams, Craig Greentree,
John Botterill, John Oram, Andrew French, Mike Binns. I am sure, I have missed a few others and on behalf of
the club we thank you.
Everyone appreciates the work that Ines and Michael completed as our secretary of our club in the past. We welcome our new secretaries Margret Larochelle and Andrea Corbeil. These 2 individuals are also new chartered members. REMEMBER: In the future all individuals should try to shoot at our targets from the lane (where the stakes are usually located)
that accompanies the target. Shooting from an angle just puts wear and tear in the targets from the arrows.
Individuals that are using the weed eater around the targets please try and lift the targets up at least a few inches so you do not damage the targets. SMOKERS, be very careful around our course for we almost had a major fire due to careless smoking (especially in the dry time). If we have another incident we will ban smoking around the course. Our membership is at an all time high and therefore don’t be afraid of taking a garbage bag home with you when the containers are full. I know a few of our members are already doing this and it is appreciated. Waiver form change – Any visitor (non-member) must sign the waiver form with a member. The cost of individuals is still $10.00/person. The change is to the family visitors. The cost will be $20.00/family (we were charging $10.00/family) Club locks will be changed by May 1st. DATES TO REMEMBER: Annual General Membership Meeting: March 30th, 7:00 pm. @ Dnipro Hall, 681 Dnipro St. (1 block east of Ritson Rd. off of Bloor St. E.) Tournament Date for our club: June 22, 2008 @ 10:00 a.m. Work Details: June 14th and June 21st, 2008 @ 09:00 a.m. Our course will be closed on June 21st, 2008 for the tournament June 14th – Silent Auction (over at 12 noon) on used targets We had over 300 archers that belonged to our club in 2007. It would be appreciated if any member who belongs to our club shows up at
our tournament. This is our only fundraiser whether you compete or help out during the tournament. Any gifts that are donated for our
prize table would also be appreciated. We have had the best prize table of any tournament that I have competed in.
A couple of new rules will be added to our list.
At this time we have 2 great courses and the best of targets for any club in Ontario. We are also one of the strongest 3D clubs in the
province.
We purchased a small generator to operate the lights during evening hours. These lights were installed by Dennis Miller. This generator is in the back room and accessed only by chartered members. We also purchased 20 new targets and a new metal detector. We should be proud of all the shooters that competed with the Inter Club Challenge and all other tournaments. We won the Inter Cub Challenge hands down. Everyone should be proud of Andrew Fagan. He won many tournaments and I witnessed Andrew winning the Canadian Championship as well as the Grand Prix Shoot out at the end. Please stay off the road to our club when it thaws out (gets muddy). Do not use 4 wheel drive to enter our premises. If you get stuck the farmer may pull you out with a minimum charge of $75.00. The location of this farmer is on the west side of Wilson Road just south of the south gate. The farmer’s name is Bob Champsall (905-655-3759). Be aware of his watch dog, especially when he is not home. Excuses for missed shots that I have heard:
Our club keeps getting stronger and is in great shape. Looking forward to the New Year and remember SAFETY is #1.
